225mm TYPE 4/A HOUSING TIE ** BOX 250 **

Light-duty housing ties (often referred to as Type 4 ties or VE4 ties) are used in residential construction to securely link the outer brick wall to the inner block wall of a cavity, ensuring they act as one stable unit.

Product Features / Specifications

Manufactured from stainless steel, ensuring a 60+ year lifespan against corrosion. In short, they are the standard, cost-effective, and safe choice for connecting the walls of standard two-story houses to keep them stable and dry.

Product Benefits

  • Prevents Damp: Featuring a “multidrip” design — a formed bend in the metal — that stops moisture from travelling across the tie to the inner wall.
  • Durable Material: Manufactured from stainless steel for long-term performance and resistance to corrosion, providing a lifespan of 60+ years.
  • Easy Installation: Designed for straightforward, fast installation by builders, typically spaced 450mm vertically and 900mm horizontally.
  • Safe Sound Insulation: Suitable for use in party walls within new housing developments, supporting acoustic performance.

Applications and Versatility

  • Residential Homes: Specifically designed for low-rise, domestic dwellings up to 10 metres in height.
  • Sheltered Locations: Ideal for properties in towns or areas with lower wind speeds (below 27m/s).
  • Inner/Outer Leaf Connection: Best suited where inner blockwork and outer brickwork are of similar thickness.
  • Cavity Wall Stability: Helps prevent the outer, non-load-bearing brick wall from bowing or collapsing inward.
